Flashing CyanogenMod
1. Download the latest version of CyanogenMod.
Optional: Download the Google Apps for the device.
2. Extract the boot.img from the CyanogenModupdate.zip and copy the it to the same folder as fastboot (the /platform-tools folder within the Android SDK folder).
3. Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root ofthe SD card.
Optional: Place the Google Apps .zip on the root of the SD card also.
4. Disconnect the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play from the computer and power it off.
5.Press & hold the Search button while connecting the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play to the computer.
6. On the computer, open terminal and run the following command:
fastboot-i 0xfce flash boot boot.img
fastboot -i 0xfce reboot
7. While the device is reboot press the Volume Rockers a few times to boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.
8.Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side Volume Rocker to move around, & the Power button to select.
Optional: Select backup and restore to createa backup of current installation on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.
9. Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
10. Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.11. Select Install zip from sdcard.
12. Select Choose zip from sdcard.
13. Select the CyanogenMod update.zip.
Optional: Install the Google Apps by performingsteps 11 - 13 again and choosing the Google Apps update.zip.
14. Once the installation has finished, select +++++Go Back+++++ to get back to the main menu, and select theReboot system now option. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play should now boot into CyanogenMod. If you don't see a menu item named +++++Go Back+++++ then try the back key of the device.
