The Great Adventure

The complete title of this book is Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, the author is Lewis Carroll. The book was published in2007 by Vintage Classics. The genre of the book is fantasy. This book is about a girl with a huge imagination. One summer day she is really bored so she follows a white rabbit down the rabbit-hole. At the bottom of the hole she finds a really weird world, where everything with no exception is bizarre. The book has a third person narrator. I really enjoyed readingthis book and I think that if you have an open mind you will like it. People might think that the book is just like the movie, but I can tell you that the book is completely different from the movie, so it can be a new adventure to all the people who enjoy reading about and imagining things that are impossible.
The setting takes place in London, England around1865. I think the setting in the story is important because it happens in a familiar place to Alice, but she goes to a completely different place, so this changes the background to her. This makes the characters and everything to be the opposite they’re in real life. From the setting of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, Ilearned that all people are different, and not because they’re different we’ve to be mean with them or discriminate them, because we all want to be treated equal no matter what.
The main character in the book is Alice. She’s a girl with an amazing imagination, and she believes that even the impossible things are possible if you just believe. She’sreally sentimental and childish, but she has a really good heart and she never thinks about doing bad things to animals, things or people. I think that she takes the challenges differently as she matures throughout the book. In the beginning when she’s stuck in the room with the doors, she cries and acts like a little girl, but in the end when she hasto go through the eight squares, she acts more reasonable, responsible and with more tact. I think this happens because throughout the story she learns that life is not all about her cats, toys and parties. She is a “hero” in the story because she managed all the way through the eight squares and becomes a queen. No one was able to do that before. This book has a lot of supporting characters. There are talking flowers and fish that can live out of water. I will give a description of the ones I believe are the most important in the story. There’s the Red Queen, she’s mean and she’s always screaming to people “Off with the head!” If she doesn’t like something about a person, thing or animal, she says it. Her husband is mean but notas mean as her. He guides himself from what the Queen orders and he’s always taking notes. There’s the Duchess, who is good and the opposite of the Red Queen. Of course, the Red Queen hates her. There’s the White Queen, who is the partner of the Red Queen, and they become Alice’s partners too when she becomes a queen. There are a couple of twins called Tweedledee and Tweedledum, they areinseparable but they’re always contradicting each other. All the supporting characters have a unique personality that makes the book very interesting.
This book has many stories, so there are many plots. The main plot in the book is that when she’s inside the room with the doors Alice can’t find a way out, she gets scared and she cries a lot so she makes a pool of tears and suddenly all the animals go...
