Nowadays,teleworking, which implies working from home, has become a tempting alternative. There differences between working in an office and teleworking are: commuting, flexibility, and social relationships.Firstly, commuting is an obvious difference between working in an office and teleworking. Office workers commute daily to comply with the working hours. They are up and about early; and, in mostcases, they return home late at night. Furthermore, waiting for the bus and dealing with traffic can be both exhausting and time consuming. On the contrary, teleworkers do not have to face anoverwhelming journey to work, as the distance between bed and the office is short. What is more, people who commute spend money on public transport. Those who have a car, will certainly save time, but they willput money on fuel expenses and parking. On the other hand, teleworkers put money away as they do not have to commute on regular basis. While office workers are commuting and wasting time and money;teleworkers are out of this situation remaining at home.
Secondly, flexibility makes a difference between working in an office and teleworking. Teleworkers are able to decide over their workingtime. That is to say that they can adjust timetables to their needs, whereas office workers cannot. Working in an office means to comply with a settled timetable as the rest of the employees. Besides,teleworkers find themselves exempt from strict supervision, which enables them to coordinate work schedule and family priorities, which is convenient for parents who want to be at home with theirchildren.
