Andy Irons was a professional surfer who won three world titles (2002, 2003, 2004) and he was from Oahu, Hawaii.
He started to surfon the dangerous and shallow reefs of the North Shore in Kauai, Hawaii and as he was very good he entered the World Championship Tour. Ironsmarried Lyndie Dupuis on November 25, 2007 in Princeville, Kauai. He appeared on 2004 on the film Blue Horizon (directed by surfing filmmaker JackMcCoy) which paralleled his life on the WCT tour and also touched on his long-time rivalry with ten-time world champion Kelly Slater.Unfortunately, he died on November 2, 2010 because of a viral disease known as dengue in a hotel in Texas after he had travelled to Puerto Rico (wherereportedly been battling with dengue fever) . At that time his wife was seven months pregnant with their first child.
At the course of hisprofessional career Irons achieve a lot of titles as three world titles (as I've mention before), three Quicksilver Pro France titles (2003, 2004, 2005),two Rip Curl Pro Search titles (2006 and 2007) and 20 elite tour victories including the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing four times from 2002-2006. Onthe year of his death, he won the Billabong Pro in Tahiti. On his memory The Governor of Hawaii declared February 13 forever "Andy Irons Day"because he is the only surfer to have won a title at every venue on the ASP calendar. I hope everybody will remember him.
