Arguments For And Against New Technologies
If we think about new technologies the arguments in favor are easy to identify and there are a lot of them, whereas it’s difficult to findarguments against that topic in our technology-flooded society. But, to be honest, can we think in a world without the facilities that new technologies provide us? Definitelynot.
First of all, if we talk about new technologies we have to talk about computers and the internet. The last one has become the most powerful tool tocommunicate, to investigate or just to have a good time. These technologies have made possible a lot of new inventions: mp3 music players, satnavs, electronic books, PDA’s, orthe latest smartphones. All of these gadgets are essential in our modern life. But, what is more, the newest technologies have helped to develop vaccines or drugs tohave a large life and which is more important, to have a healthier life.
On the other hand, leaving aside all the advantages, new technologies have turned peopleimpatient. The compulsive use of new technologies decreases our ability to think. For example, when we don’t know anything we search it on Google instantly, withoutthink about it more than one minute. Another downside is related with the social interactions decline; we spent most of our time in front of a computer and although wetalk with a lot of people indirectly by different tools (SMS, emails or facebook) we meet people face-to-face less frequently than before.
From my point of view, weall must be aware about the disadvantages that new technologies have. This will help us to exploit the positive parts and to counteract or improve the negative ones.
