AURA
At school in my literature class I am reading a novel called Aura by Carlos Fuentes. Aura is a short novel and the story is set in 1961in Mexico City, it was published in 1962.
Felipe Montero is a Young historian, one day he finds in the newspaper a notice requesting aprofessional for a job with a very good salary, he accepts to live in Consuelo’s house to editing the memoirs of General Llorente (the Consuelo’shusband), because the elderly widow (Consuelo) wants published before her own death.
In that house only live Consuelo and her niece. The novel takesplace around Aura, owner of amazing green eyes and a great beauty, and her strange relationship with her elderly aunt. Felipe falls in love withAura and begins to dream of having sex with her, and then he wants to escape with Consuelo’s young beautiful niece because he thinks that Auracan’t make her life because Consuelo has caught her.
Aura represents the youth and beauty, in contrast to her aunt, to whom she often behavessubmissively. In its presence, she is usually quiet and shy and tents to act mechanically, like depending on someone else to take any action.Consuelo is a lady with much wrinkled skin and white hair. She is 109 years old. Consuelo and Aura are the same person because Consuelo couldn’thave children and that makes her very sad and then she begins to age and decides to perform rituals, the most notable is the give life to of Aura.
