Granada:
a short raid into the history of the city.

The history of Granada remains mysterious and dark. Some myths attribute its foundation to a Hercules’ daughter called Granata while othersassure it was a daughter of Noah. However, historically, we have no proof of the establishment of a city until, at least, the V century B.C.
The first dwellers of these lands have been dated around600.000 thousand years ago. They had some kind of social organization, harvested, employed stone instruments and buried their dead. Prehistorically situation is important to understand in whichconditions the city originated. Furthermore, historicians have been interested in finding older rests of human dwellers in order to determine whether the first inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula arrivedfrom the north, as it is believed today, or, on the contrary, they arrived through sailing from Africa to the southern coast.
Once in the Superior Paleolithic and Neolithic many deposits have beenfounded all around the province. They reveal a change from harvesters and hunters dwellers to agriculture and cattle society as well as the appearance of pottery daily-life objects. Even though most of therests have been founded in caves these people lived in huts in the open-air lawns and mountains and just get into the caves for shelter form storms or other punctual events. This discovering is dueto the facts that rests are better preserved in caves than in open-air deposits.
During the age of metals (3000 -1000 A.D.) Grenadian inhabitants kept on expanding trough the whole province,developing independent cultures and manufacturing their own genuine daily-life objects and pieces of art. These times we find cities for the first time, nevertheless, no archeological evidence have been foundt prove the existence of a city in the current Granada.
