BODY REACTIONS
Have you ever wondered why do people blush when something embarrasses them? Or have you ever thought about the fact that every emotion moves all kind of hormones in your body? Thereare plenty cases in which a person has a reason to be happy as well as there are also plenty for feeling sadness. Daily life is made of lots of situations, each that require the expression of feelingsby physical and biological reactions in order for humans to protect themselves from the external world and respond to stimulus coming from it. Clearly then, feelings are shown in many kinds of waysand consequently, positive or negative. Nevertheless, humans have different reactions towards different situations, and hormones that regulate their metabolism act in any case; they are precisely incharge of receiving an exterior stimulus and afterwards, producing the reddening for a visual reaction of embarrassment, tears for showing deeply sadness or simply, the modification of our facialexpression for the recognition and physical response to any other emotion. Ergo, we can explain all of human body expressions by concluding that there are six universal emotions in human beings, and theseare all regulated by the release of some hormones in specific situations.
According to this, Dr. Ekman’s theory talks about six basic universal emotions that receive the name of “The big six list”1.These emotions are happiness, sadness, surprise, fear, anger and finally, disgust. Later, the list was expanded and eleven new emotions where added including embarrassment as an essential component.
Inour daily life we have to face different scenarios in which we get to experiment a lot of things in our bodies; do the following symptoms seem familiar?, heart beating faster, maybe reddened cheeks,and a big smile on your face… If they do, you have experimented happiness, one of the most common emotions in human beings.
