THE DESIGN

In a class by itself – the inside story of a great pump
Heavy-duty, long-life motors We’re strict about getting you the right motor quality and capacity. Various installation modes provide different motor options. Pumps with closecoupled motors utilize ITT developed motors, many of which we build ourselves. Pumps with stub shafts orflexible couplings utilize any standard IEC motor. The benefit with this approach is that standard motors are widely available and cost effective. Easy access Service and maintenance is simplified on both vertical- and horizontal-axis models. Our smaller horizontal units offer back pull-out design for easier motor access and quicker maintenance because the pump doesn’t need to be disconnected from thepiping. Likewise, on vertical PX models the motor is located on top, so no pipe disconnections are necessary. Axial thrust eliminated for hydraulic balance ITT Flygt pumps are engineered to keep axial thrust forces as low as possible to ensure long bearing life. This is crucial on our multistage units where special impeller and hydraulic design compensates up-thrust with downthrust to eliminateaxial forces. In conventional multistage pumps the impeller stack constantly pushes downward, while our design equalizes pressure to minimize the bearing forces and improve working life. Standard motors, always available One of the primary benefits of thrust elimination is that reduced forces and loading make it possible to utilize standard IEC motors with standard bearing arrangements. Nospecial-order items required. Easy maintenance. Wear rings for longer life Many pumps in the range are equipped with wear rings on the impeller. These easy-to-replace rings reduce maintenance and improve the impeller’s working life.

All stainless works anywhere Often a stainless steel pump is an advantage or even a necessity. When you need the ultimate most of our pumps are available in stainlesssteel ASTM 304 or ASTM 316.
