BOOK REPORT

Title: Romeo and Juliet

Author: William Shakespeare

Summary of the book:

Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. The story is about two young loverswhose families are enemies. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. Romeo goes to a party in Juliet’s house and there he meet her and immediately they fall in love and then they secretly marry thenext day. Unfortunately, the fights between the two families continue and Romeo kills Tybalt (a Capulet), for this Romeo is banished from Verona.

At the same time, the Capulet’s are planning Juliet’smarriage to Paris. Juliet doesn’t want to marry him so she arranges with Friar Lawrence to fake her own death with a sleeping poison. He promises to send a letter to Romeo explaining everything.Unfortunately, Romeo doesn’t receive this message on time and hearing of Juliet’s death goes to Verona to see her tomb, where he drinks poison and dies. The Juliet kill herself with Romeo’s dagger. Thetwo families find the bodies and they shared sorrow, finally they make peace with each other.

Describe the main character: What does she/he look like and what is she/he like?

Romeo is a Montague.He is a tragic character. He is characterized as hasty and emotional. He is young and very handsome, cute, romantic and faithful lover who would do anything to be with Juliet.

Juliet is a Capulet.She is young, very beautiful, smart and determined. She knows what she wants and she gets it.

Where does the story take place? Setting, period of time, etc.

The play takes place in the town ofVerona in Italy in 1595.

What is your opinion of the book? Would you recommend it to other students? Why or why not?

It’s an amazing story about two young lovers. A poetic story that speaks toones heart directly. It ends very tragic but tell us the magic of true, young love. I would recommend it to any hopeless romantic as me because is one of the most romantics books that I ever read....
