1. About the author:
Paulo Cohelo : he was born in brazil in 1947 in the city of Rio de Janeiro, he worked as theatre director and actor, lyricist and journalist. In 1986, PAULO COELHO did the pilgrimage to Saint James of Compostella, an experience later to be documented in his book The Pilgrimage.
In the following year, COELHO published The Alchemist. Slow initialsales convinced his first publisher to drop the novel, but it went on to become one of the best selling Brazilian books of all time.

2. Veronika decides to die type of book:
Veronika decides to die isa novel by Paulo Cohelo it is about life of a young girl that in her twenties decided to end her life. Now she must spend her last days in a mental hospital because her heart is damaged and she will die in the next’s days.
3. Main characters:

• Veronika : lives in Slovenia she is 24 years old. At day she works as a librarian and at night she usually go out with some man.
she rents a singleroom in a convent.
Veronika is beautiful she has dark brown and long hair, she has green deep eyes she looks as a model also she wears the last trends of fashion.
in appearance she has a perfect life, but she thinks that she had lived enough.


• Zelka: she is in her thirties, she met Veronica in Villette but she will go out there cause she has cured.
Zelka is married and she has a child,but when she was 34 she felt in love with another man but this relationship was unsuccessful. For this reason she became in a depressed woman.
during the time she was in Villette she began to do astral journeys because she wanted find answers about her existence.




• Mari: she had spent 40 years working as a lawyer. one day when she was at cinema she suffered a panic attack.
for onemonth she had not gone out from her house, some day she decided to take a taxi and go for help, she went to Villete
Dr Igor gave a medicament and told her “you just need to take a pill when the attack is coming” but she wanted to stay there for some time.

• Eduard: has schizophrenia and he is the son of an important Slovenian diplomatic his father wanted that Eduard became in a diplomatic aswell.
when he was younger lived in Brazil and learned to speak Portuguese and fall in love with a weird girl.
He suffered an accident when he was 17, after this he decided become in artist because he wanted to paint the paradise visions however his parents did not accepted, even so Eduard started painting his visions.
one day his father spoke with him and forced to leave everything.
As aresult Eduard had destroyed his paints and became in a schizophrenic man.











4. Plot:

In November 1997 Veronika decided to kill herself, she was thinking about this since many months ago, this afternoon she had cleaned her room and in her night table were four boxes of pills, she swallowed one by one because she might change her opinion nonetheless convinced that was the bestdecision she finished all the boxes.

when she opened her eyes she saw two man and she asked where I am? and Dr Igor said “Veronika you are in Villette the mental hospital” and Veronika said how long I will be here? Dr Igor told !no much because your heart has a permanent damage and you going to died in short time”
during the next’s days Veronika experiences all the things she never allowed...
