Brazil shares borders with Uruguay to the south; Argentina and Paraguay to the southwest; Bolivia and Peru to the west; Colombia ,Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana and the French overseasdepartment of French Guiana to the north.

The sword represents justice, the central area, blue, contains the constellation of the Southern Cross, a symbol enshrined in Brazil. Around the area there are 20 silver starsrepresenting the 20 states of Brazil (27 currently). The sphere rests on a star where are the national colors, green and yellow: the star represents the unity of the country's federation.
The twoplants are: left, right and coffee, the snuff, that is, the two main products in Brazil in 1889.
The gold striped background represents the dawn of the Republic. It is noted that as a star of 20points, again symbolizing the states. The date shown on the tape is that which corresponds to the proclamation of the Republic.
