La construcción No proyectar nada que los obreros no supieran hacer mejor que uno La arquitectura un refugio, un palacio. Dado que la dueña vive sola y dado el presupuesto, lacasa es ajustada como un refugio. Dada su vida social, la casa se presenta (dentro de lo posible) como un palacio; al acceder a los recintos públicos tanto del primer como del segundo piso desde laescalera, ellos se presentan en el primer golpe de vista según su triagonal, la mayor dimensión posible de una pieza dada.

The client was a person that lived alone but had a very active social life. She wanted a house near her studio, like her studio. She alsowanted to have good views over the city, but the site looked towards west, an orientation one always tries to avoid in Santiago, due to the violent desert sun. To satisfy these requirements, we started bytrying to make all the rooms to perform simultaneously as halls. The measures of the rooms were as tight as possible, to fit in the budget and in the lonely clients way of living; but we alwaysentered those tight rooms in a corner and from a stair, experiencing their triagonals, the longest possible view of a given volume. We built in bricks, to echo her studio. Volumes ended up being as severeas possible; this because the design rule was that workers had to know and dominate the resulting forms better than the architects.
