ChapterOne and Two.

In Chapter one, the author shows us the book structure, and the way it is organized which is by regional divisions, "cultural areas". Through the book she is going to shows us thehistorical processes of the different areas.
Chapter one is a general view of the Native people in North America (United States and Canada), their economic activities, their social organization, workdivision, gender roles, households, social stratification (which was based in personal skills, and good habits), relation between genders (interesting fact is third category of gender: "Two - Spirit"that reflex the flexibility of gender roles and sex): importance of their Cosmo vision, religion, rites.
In the end of Chapter One, she explains the interactions between groups, this interactions firstone occurred by trades nets and the practice of exogamy, this caused the diffusion and assimilation of culture between and others. Also, in this chapter it makes clear that the existing conflictsbetween different groups were almost null, since existed a fort felt of property to the group, that it included the education of values like the respect and the reciprocity as bases of control andsocial organization.
The author speaks about some terminology concepts: native American (people whose ancestors were the indigenous inhabitants of what is now United States and Canada); and three conceptfor ethnic identification: Inuit (native people who lives in the arctic regions), Indian (native people who are not Inuit, and a concept which is a mistake) and Metis (an ethnic identification used inCanada for people who are mixed-bloods.
In Chapter two the author tell us about the historical processes of Native People after the appearance of Europeans.
