Nicotine is a drug that is naturally present in the plant and is primarily responsible snuff of a person's addiction to snuff products, including cigarettes. During smoking,nicotine is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and travels to the brain in seconds. Nicotine causes addiction to cigarettes and other products like snuff that addiction is caused by the use ofheroin and cocaine, according to Cancer Facts and Figures (2003).

Cigarette smoking causes 87 percent of deaths from lung cancer according to American Cancer Society, (2003). Lung cancer is the leadingcause of cancer death in both men and women. Smoking is also responsible for most cancers of the larynx, mouth, esophagus and bladder. The secondhand smoke is responsible each year for about 3,000 lungcancer deaths among nonsmokers according to American Cancer Society, (2003).
