Cinema
1. Definition
Cinema is the technique of project images fast and successively to create a sensation of movement.
1.1. Genres
- Comedy: films created to make laugh.
- Action¬: films with alot of special effects and violence.
- Adventure: it reflects an heroic world with combats and
- Horror: films that try to scare people.
- Romantic films: films with love as main theme
-Fantasy: contains fantastic events, worlds or creatures.
- Animation: films composed by pictures drawn by hand.
2. History
2.1. Beginning
Cinema was born the 28th of December 1895 with the first filmby the Lumière brothers “Salon Indien”. After that, they made more films, but people got bored because they were films about daily events. It was Georges Méliès who brought magic to cinema, with hisfantastic and full of tricks films, such as “A trip to the Moon”.
The video is the first animation ever, by Eadweard Muybridge, who used a phenakistoscope to crate movement.
2.2. Mute Cinema
Mutecinema wasn’t really mute, because it was accompanied by music and a narrator who explained what was happening in the images.
The most notable industries were Pathé in France and Itala Films inItaly. After that, in 1903 Edwin Porter inaugures the West cinema, with his film “The Great Train Robbery”.
In that time, cinema was already a business, and Edison started and won “The patent’s war”.2.3. Talking Cinema
The 6th October 1927 something revolutionary happened. “The Jazz Singer”, the first film with sound (by itself) opened. After this, everything changed, a lot of actors and actresswere dismissed because they didn’t have a good voice. In Spain, Studios Orphea, the first talking studios opened.
Colour starts in cinema with “Becky Sharp”(1935), but it reaches its peak with thefilm “Gone with the wind”(1939).
