CIVIL ENGINEERING
Civil engineering is a branch of engineering that have greater seniority. The origin of the term 'civil' is to highlight its differentiation frommilitary engineering. Its main purpose is to change and preserve the environment for the benefit of society.
Civil engineers have a comprehensive education because there are several areas ofknowledge that must be mastered, such as geography, geology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, hydraulics and transport, to name the most important.
A civil engineer must be able to plan, design, plan, buildand manage a variety of civil works, such as buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, harbors, channels, dams, airports, shopping centers, schools, hospitals, etc..
Besides civil engineering includes thesocial component, because part of the project involves the planning of life of people who will be modified by the works planned and built, which should always ensure improved quality of life of humangroups neighbors.
A very important activity performed by civil engineers is to propose and analyze several possible solutions to a problem, then discard one by one until stay with the best solution.It is also a civil engineer working knowledge on materials and machines, two very important for the proper execution of any work. However, as civil engineering is a very large area of ​​knowledge andthere are specialized divisions focused on certain very specific issues.
So for example we have structural engineering, geotechnical, hydraulic, transportation, materials, road construction, etc..Some of these civil engineering divisions have been developed so that today are independent branches of engineering, but always intertwined with each other
