The pet kidnapper
Some months ago, the little town of Hampton was terrified. As if by a magic, the animals that children looked after in their homes had disappeared. There wereno birds by the windows, or horses, or dogs and cats in chasing each other any more.
Adults and children missed their pets and even the houses looked sad and silent without thenoises of the animals.
Not very far away, at the top of the hill, there lived and old man who had felt very lonely until then.
Because his house was big, he had decided totake all the animals from the town and fill the house with life.
He thought that he deserved their company more anybody else, because he had always cared about animals and,well, because he did not have any friends left in the town to spend time with, so as not to feel lonely.
One day, while he was passing near the town he heard a conversation betweentwo boys that had lost their animals and at the beginning, he refused the idea that he had made a mistake, but when he saw the animals, he realized that their families were mostprobably missing them as much as he missed his friends, the man was moved and took all the animals down to the town to return them, one by one to their homes.
To everybody’ssurprise, the animals, as well as begin happy, were amazingly fit.
The birds sang lauder, more clearly that before. Cats and dogs looked great and they looked as if they had justbeen washed and the horses looked more agile, stronger.
That’s why the people in the town decided no to scold the man who had taken their pets away and they asked him to look afterstray animals from that day on.
And of course, he accepted the offer.
