DAFT PUNK AND THE 2007 ALIVE TOUR
Daft Punk is an Electronic music duo producers and performers from France which earned big popularity in the late 1990s with their catchy and original housetracks as for example Around the World and Tha Funk.
The name of the band comes from a really bad review a critic did about their first songs back when they were still figuring out about the kind ofmusic they wanted to do.
Eventhough the names of the two members are Thomas Bangalter and Guy- Manuel de Homen-Christo, at some point of their career they decided to always wear robot disguises,helmets specifically, hiding their identity to become pure artists, simbols, more than famous celebrities, making a sore of commitment with themselves and the creative ideas they wanted to comunicateto the public.
Their first album was 1997 “Homework” followed by 2001 “Discovery”, 2005 “Human After All”, 2007 “Alive” and 2010 Disney´s “Tron Legacy” movie soundtrack, all of them big hits withmillions of fans around the World.
From 2006 to 2007 Daft Punk went on a worldwide tour, which resulted in one of the most ambicious and weel fabricated shows at that time.
Electronic musicperformances are different to a rock band’s shows. When a rock band is giving a concert their members can move freely through the stage so they can get the crow more excited with their movements andcoreography. In contrast, a Dj or electronic music performer needs to be close to his musical equipment/instrument so he doesn´t have that freedom of movement. To make an interesting show, something elseneeds to be done, and that is exactly what Daft Punk did with their creative team. They designed a visually stuning stage wich had a pyramid at thee center which worked as the “control tower” forthe duo a was covered with digital screens on two of its sides.
