Democracy is a system of government, in which the power resides and is sustained in people. There are direct and indirect elections through a system ofrepresentation usually involving periodic free elections. In a direct democracy, the public participates in government directly. The people select the principal authorities of the country by voting.The great majority of the democratic systems today are representatives. We can imagine how complicated it will be otherwise with the current population of the countries. Participatory democracy,accepted in principle by almost everybody, is not easy to practise in a large country, where issues are many and complex. Inside the democracy, those who have the consent, to show the public charges, arethe members of the political power. The political parties are the ones who promote and strengthen to the democracy. They also decide the charges of the executive and legislative power, in themajority of the democratic nations. In some places the citizens can also choose certain members of the judicial power.
In the movie Tony Benn talks about the beginning of democracy and where the powerstems in. He says «In the beginning we were all created equal.. Matters cannot go on well until all things are held in common» that`s very true because if we want to live in a place where everyone has thesame rights we first have to accept each other as they are and forget about the difference that separate us. He also says « It is wrong to say that God made the rich and poor , he made male andfemale and he gave them the earth for their abidance» Long ago woman had no rights at all but one day a group of women’s went to the roads and started expressing themselves. At first it was not acceptedso they went to prison and so on till at one moment the Government ( people in the power ) decided to give them some rights ( they weren`t the same as the men but at least they now had the right to...
