“Good night ladies and gentlemen:
We are getting together to talk about one of the most important writers of drama, theatre and novels in the world, Oscar Wilde.
The importance of Oscar Wilde resides both in hisart and in his personality. He is one of the most accomplished writers of his generation, but quite apart from his actual literary achievement, he is significant as a symbolic figure who exemplified a way of being homosexual at a pivotal moment in the emergence of gay consciousness, the crucial final decade of the nineteenth century.
Oscar Wilde's perfectly charming and witty manner of expressionwill enchant you in more ways than one. He is a master storyteller and drifts through the story like a gentle summer breeze through odor filled roses, giving you the feeling that you can literally smell the flower he is describing. The Picture of Dorian Gray is a masterpiece. A beautiful story, based in an idyllic era. The story focuses on an extremely handsome young man, who at the beginning isnaively not aware of the power of this brings.
Through his friend Basil, the artist who is to blame for the exquisite portrait of Dorian, he meets Lord Henry, the fun loving, dangerously influential gentleman who takes a liking to Dorian and protect him. It is Lord Henry that takes Dorian's innocence and teaches him the way of the world, or British society, and sparks the light of vanity andpride in Dorian.
This magical story enters into the fragile world of youth and old age, the thirst to maintain the former and the fear of the inevitable latter, accompanied with dreadful emotions of love, shame, hate, fear...This is one book that will stand on your shelf with pride, and will be the most worn and torn one there.
Finally, I would like to say that all the artists feel attracted tolife’s aberrations, dark passions and their relation always with magic forces. But despite this, undoubtedly, Wilde loved vice. He loved vice like the artist he was. Enjoy the genius of Wilde.

Situación comunicativa:
Antes de empezar a preparar el discurso anterior y de buscar el tema del mismo intenté buscar una situación comunicativadonde pudiera colocar el discurso. Pensé en temas relacionados con la medicina por su vocabulario específico ya que podrían poner al intérprete en un aprieto a la hora de interpretarlo, pero no es algo que me apasione. También busqué temas de actualidad, como las continuas catástrofes naturales que han tenido lugar a lo largo de todo este año. Un ejemplo son las inundaciones en Haití, los continuosproblemas en Irán o incluso el rescate de los mineros chilenos, sepultados a 700 metros bajo tierra. Cualquiera de estos temas hubiera sido válido, pero creo que todos los conocemos por seguirlos en las noticias así que me centré en un tema completamente distinto. Dar a conocer un poquito más al gran escritor de origen irlandés Oscar Wilde y su obra El Retrato de Dorian Gray.
Wilde es una de esaspersonas que te engancha a sus libros desde la primera página. Por eso he querido recordarlo.
He imaginado la situación comunicativa como un supuesto congreso en el que el tema central es la Inglaterra Victoriana, el arte y la estética que dominaban las obras literarias de la época y algunos escritores archiconocidos como es el caso de Oscar Wilde.
Digamos que el ponente podría ser un profesorde literatura inglesa de una conocida universidad del Reino Unido frente a un público español (en su mayoría estudiantes y profesores interesados en la literatura, y sobre todo interesados en conocer el discurso que este profesor dará sobre Wilde y su obra El Retrato de Dorian Gray)
Por medio está el intérprete, cuya función será interpretar en su totalidad el parlamento del profesor....
