He is a young boy who able to see and understand images that reveals about the lives of the people who are around him, like the time he guessed about his sister, Dewey Dell’s sexualfling with Lafe and how he knew Anse was not Jewel’s father, and how he could describe scenes and events which he has not witnessed yet of his mother’s death. Jewel is third child born to Addie and Rev. Whitefield. He is defined for his actions and his self being. Jewel is the spoiled child, who has no feelings or doubts about leaving his dying mother. He is known to be subjective andindependent, a man of action, who at times shows feelings of anger towards his family as though the world was unfair to him. Jewel was Addie’s favorite son and Darl new that his mother favored Jewel more than him. I myself am also the second child born to my mother and father just like Darl and my sister is third child born to mother and father just like Jewel. As sister we also have bit of arival, mostly my littler sister who at times life is unfair after my father’s death. She always attempted to compete with me for the love of my father, but unfortunately she suffered the most because I accepted my father death and was at peace with him even though I myself was hurting the loss of my father as well. I was also my father’s favorite daughter and both my sister knew it just like Jewelwas Addie’s.
