Basketball
Basketball is a team sport which is basically to introduce a ball in a hoop placed at 3 feet above the ground, from which hangs a network, which gives it a basket or basket. It is knownas the National Federations of basketball in the Caribbean countries and Spain, such as basketball in most South American countries and Mexico, and as basketball in Argentina and Peru. Basketball todayis practiced in virtually all universities and higher educational institutions around the world, sports being one of the most widely accepted groups.
Basketball was born as a response to the needfor any winter sport in North America. Professor at the University of Springfield, Massachusetts, James Naismith (a Canadian professor) was entrusted the mission in 1891 to devise a game that could playindoors, because the winters in the area hampered the performance of any activity outdoors. James Naismith analyzed the sports that are practiced at the time, whose dominant feature was the force orphysical contact, and active enough thought into something that required more skill than strength and that did not have much physical contact.
It was invented by James Naismith, a Canadian physicaleducation teacher in December 1891 at the YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. The basketball is played with two teams of five people during 4 periods or quarters of 10 (FIBA) or 12 (NBA) minuteseach. At the end of the second quarter, a break is made, typically 10 to 20 minutes depending championship own regulations which the party belongs. There is also a form, mainly for the disabled, whichis played in wheelchairs, with virtually the same rules as regular basketball.
Over the years the rules of basketball have undergone substantial innovations to provide greater agility and spectaculargame.
