Rationale

Throughout the last decades the world has suffered the consequences of the destructive behaviour of human beings. The irrational use of the natural resources has threatened life and therapid development of technology has made us lose our natural connection with Mother Earth.
Although nowadays we are facing great challenges, it is not too late to try to reduce our impact on theglobal environment.
Knowledge and understanding of nature, its beauty and power are essential to humans , who have to learn to respect and protect the world.
That is why teachers should positivelyinfluence students’ attitudes and develop their awareness of nature and sustainability, by drawing a parallel between the globe and life itself. to be able to influence students’ attitudes as well asdeveloping their awareness of nature and how to live in a sustainable world, teachers must adopt an attitude saying that our globe is our life.
This project aims at enhancing understanding ofenvironmental issues using the English language as a means to carry out activities and to learn to love nature.
As teachers we are responsible for providing our students solid foundations and as broad aplatform as possible so that they can become adults who take care of nature. We should stimulate and strengthen our students’ desire to “heal the world”.
However, inspiring them might seem difficult if wefeel that we lack environmental training ourselves. This project should also be considered an opportunity for the teacher to gain knowledge of the subject and to do some research on the differentproblems affecting the globe. As educators, it is essential to have a better understanding of the consequences that our presence has on nature, as well as to qualify ourselves bit by bit.
