BIOGRAPHY
EDGAR ALLAN POE (1809-1849)
Poet, short story writer and critic. His parents, itinerant theater actors, died when he was still a child. Edgar Allan Poe was raised by John Allan, a wealthyRichmond businessman, 1815-1820 and lived with him and his wife in the UK, where he began his education.

After returning to the United States, Edgar Allan Poe continued to study in private schoolsand attended the University of Virginia, but in 1827 his gambling and drinking earned him expulsion. He left shortly after the employee position assigned to it by his foster father, and traveled toBoston, where he anonymously published his first book, Tamerlane and Other Poems (Tamerlane and Other Poems, 1827).

THE RAVEN

The Raven is a poem by Edgar AllanPoe, wich tells the story of a man who was in his room in the night, when suddenly someone knocked on his door, open asking for Lenore, his beloved, but no one answered, he turned and once again heardknocking in his door. When opened the door, a black Raven flew in, and landed on his door, just talking and asking questions, the Raven only answered “ nevermore”, the Raven is a representation ofthe Death and says that he wouldn´t see Lenore never again. Time never go back and the time leads to Death.

AUTHORS INTENTION


The author tries toconvince the reader with words used in the romanticism of the meaning of one word anymore, implying an unknown life, as in the poem or story of the Raven in which the animal responds to all man'squestions, as is never again see Lenore or can never turn back time and really gives us a great wisdom, as is that time leads to death.
