LINCOLN PRESCHOOL

1 WELCOME

Welcome to Lincoln International Academy’s catholic preschool. Our preschool is open to boys and girls between the ages of 2 to 6 years from PK2 to Kindergarten. It is located within our main campus in an area built only for preschool. The school day runs from 7:45 am to 12:00 pm five days a week for preschool and 7:45am to 2:00p.m. for kinder.Arrangements may be made for an extended day for preschoolers in which they may stay until 2:15pm.

Our mission at Lincoln Academy Preschool is to provide high quality bilingual catholic education in an atmosphere of love and acceptance to each child. We are committed to educate children in an integral way, which involves the social, physical, cognitive, emotional and spiritually areas ofeach student.

Teaching staff is very well trained and dedicated professionals with knowledge on appropriate early childhood practices and children´s development.

If you visit our campus you will find the most wonderful classrooms and playground designs, that creates a unique atmosphere encouraging physical, intellectual and spiritual growth. Our facilities provide enough spacefor indoor and outdoor developmentally appropriate activities. Our classrooms are filled with manipulatives because learning at this stage takes place by doing rather than by being told.

Our program, which is adapted from the standards and goals of the Creative Curriculum, is a framework for the process of learning that takes into account the environment, how children learn, the teachersand the parent’s role and the theories on children development. All activities in it provide opportunities for social interaction and problem solving. Furthermore, it offers experiences for children to develop a positive self-image.


Our program incorporates a transitional model of teaching a second language in which students are taken from a monolingual environment into a bilingualone. This model sets strong bases in English and in Spanish for any student to continue to study and to develop both languages.

Learning Centers or Interest Areas

The space inside the classrooms has been carefully designed to be attractive to young learners. Each classroom is divided into Learning Centers such as Language, Reading, Fine Motor Skills. Computer, Blocks, Home Center and Art.Each center lets your child explore and practice skills that are hands-on, fun and educational, providing at the same time an opportunity for your child to work in an independent and orderly manner.

All levels have at least 45 minutes of centers time everyday.

Religion
The main learning goals of the prekinder program in religion are: to give children a sense of God; to help children discoverGod’s love for them; to shape attitudes of love and respect for self and others; to learn how to share with others.

Religion is part of our daily life. The program focuses on the teachings of Catholicism with simple themes, daily prayers, stories, songs and traditional celebrations. Our program is geared towards laying the foundations for the child´s eventual awakening faith.

All levels haveone religion class per week.

Value Program
The school promotes a Value Plan between the school and the house that permits the child to practice them. In the preschool we use a specific book in which a specific value is introduced every month. The school provides a constant stimulus to those students that practice them and children are recognized with prizes their efforts.

Gross Motor andPhysical Education
Gross motor development is part of the everyday life of our 2 and 3 years old program with their home room teachers. Physical education is offered twice a week to the 4 and 5 years old and a P.E. uniform is required.

Both programs helps children grow physically providing activities that develop motor control, awareness of space, mobility and readiness for athletic sports....
