In the present years (2009-2011)there has been not much of torture in Portugal, there has been about 70 to 75 tortures known by the police and arrested the man who did this violation of law and disbanded the site of torture sono more torture can be made by other people. One of the resent victims is a Scotland man who was captured by 4 men and he was held for 13 days. According to reports he had an ear; two fingers andthree toes cut off and was kept in a cage in a row over an unpaid debt. On February 5, 2009, Portuguese general prosecutor Candida Almeida, head of the Central Investigation and Penal ActionDepartment, announced an investigation of "torture or inhuman and cruel treatment", prompted by allegations of "illegal activities and serious human rights violations" made by MEP Ana Gomes to theattorney general, on January 26, 2009.
One of the most reasonable solutions would be to implement security on the streets. Also my delegation has come with the idea of inspecting villages near thetowns since the majority of the known torture had been made in villages, in this investigations we will be looking for possible instruments of torture and destroy them, burn them or take them away.
