Entrepreneurship: The key to transformation
It wasn’t until the 1700’s during the Industrial Revolution when companies became innovators through the production of goods, that people got a glance ofentrepreneurship. People were astonished by the massive production of new products, the arising competition between companies and the sudden increase in financial returns. It was the beginning of anew social vision: the vision of entrepreneurs. Although, while some were enriching themselves, the citizen sector got stuck behind and soon felt no motivation to keep innovating and producing. Itwasn’t until the 1980’s when the citizen sector decided to become competitive that entrepreneurship emerged again. Since then, new enterprises and entrepreneurs have been able to provide more jobs and comeup with new opportunities for growth that have revolutionized the world. Nowadays, world class entrepreneurs are becoming a crucial part in competition and economic growth.

Entrepreneurs are risktakers that spot opportunities in order to create new, innovative and succesful ideas whose goal is to earn profit or create a big change in direction for an existing company, both ultimatelyleading to a social transformation. As stated in the article “The High-Intensity Entrepreneur”, “today entrepreneurs anywhere can create value with relatively little capital” (Habiby & Coyle, Jr.,2010, p.74) .
There are different types of entrepreneurs, first there are classic entrepreneurs who create their own companies from innovative ideas. Within this group there can be micropreneurs whoplan to stay with a small business; and growth-oriented entrepreneurs who start small but plan to grow their company into a big corporation. Also, there are multipreneurs, they follow many innovativeideas and create a series of businesses. Finally, there are intrapreneurs who ultimately develop their creativity and innovation within a large corporation.
