Good Business describes a new business paradigm of our age. Nowadays business it’s not only about making money; it is about contributing to mankind’s growth,well-being and happiness.
But how do we relate happiness and business? Apparently these two concepts don’t seem to be connected but they are truly linked. First, any company is much more productivewhen the employees there are happy with their lives. Secondly, from the point of view of the customer, every single company is created with the last goal of making people happy, even with one productor one service.
The way that business leaders have managed companies until now is getting old and a new way of thinking is emerging in business world. Nowadays visionary business leaders must haveclear goals: they don’t only look for their self-sake, but also for common good. Any good leader must give one’s best, help people and try to contribute to a better world.
This happiness we havementioned before it is totally related with one concept: flow. Flow is a state of mind when things happen easily, without thinking. You are totally involved with the activity you are making, doesn’tmatter if it is drawing, climbing a mountain, reading… Flow happens when challenges and skills are in a similar level. For example, if our challenge is so big for our skills we’ll feel stressed or anxious.But how do we know exactly that we are in flow? Apart of just feeling it there are some indicators for it. The first point is that goals must be clear: the important thing is to enjoy what we aredoing; “it is the journey what counts, not the destination”. Another important point is that feedback comes immediately while doing our activity. We know that we are good doing something just because weenjoy it. These are some delator factors that make us know we are in flow.
