Welcome this week’s journey in music history I’m very excited to talk about a German band that thanks to them and their creativity helped expand electronic music to a whole other level, consideringthem as the pioneers of electronic music and has had a lasting effect across many genres of modern music, lets talk about Kraftwerk.

Kraftwerk is an electronic band that was formed in 1970 byRalf Hutter and Florian Schneider, their sound signatures combines driving, repetitive rhythms with catchy melodies, mainly following a western classical style of harmony, with a minimalistic andstrictly electronic instrumentation. In their early stages of productions the albums were some sort of experimental music no structure, which it will change on later albums. Now lets talk about theiralbum releases from 1974 – 1981 and lets dive into this evolution of electronic music shall we?

1974 – Autobahn. In this album we can listen to a different Kraftwerk, the band had invested in newertechnology helping the band to achieve a newer, discipline sound. The album became a success with there 22 minute long track titled just like their album and reached no. 25 on the US Billboards Hot100 and no. 22 in the Australian charts. The theme for this album was picturing yourself driving on the Autobahn, this album became a success and the band had the opportunity to tour in the US, Canadaand UK for the first time to promote their work and brought the awareness of the possibilities of electronic music permeated the consciousness of musicians at large. Also this was the last albumCony Plank would be engineering.

1975 – Radio Activity. In this album the band had the opportunity to invest in more equipment from the money they made with the Autobahn tour despite the fact of thenew technology the utilize on this album, the album was less successful in the UK and the American markets but it did gained them a gold disc in France.
