i think the work moment was when i first walked into my dorm room. there were just bare walls, a bed, a desk, and a closet. it was pouring rain, and i felt like going straight back home. but iunpacked my stuff and put up some posters, and i suppose the room doesn't look so awful now. things started looking up this evening when i met my roommates, and we all decided to go to the bar in thestudent union. we've been talking to loads of people, and everyone is really friendly. i've just called my parents to tell them i'm actually really happy!
i'm looking forward to it, but i'm alsoterrified. will i make friends? will i be able to cope with the work? will i feel homesick? i'll be staying in a dormitory on campus, so i guess that's a good place to meet people. i'm not too worried aboutmoney-i worked during my year off, so i've saved up some cash. i'll live on that and my student loan to start with, but eventually i'll have to find a part-time job to make ends meet. i really don'twant to end up with thousands of dollars of debt.
i have my final exams in a couple of months, so i'm trying to study and cut down on late nights. that's really hard-part of the problem is sharing anapartment with five lively people! but you have to learn to work on your own-we're constantly told that we're here to learn and not to be taught. if you miss a lecture, no one is going to tell you off.can't believe how much i've changed during the last year-i've become much more independent and confident in all sorts of ways. but it took me a few weeks to settle down. at first i was terribly shy,and everyone else seemed to know the ropes. but now i realize that most of the other freshmen were as nervous as i was. in a way, i wish i didn't have to live wth my parents because i miss out on...
