INTRODUCTION

the guajira is one of our cultural heritage and tourism moreimportant than has Colombia. The project cardboard in whatconcernsme is the initiative to make us aware of our heritage andlearn more about our own country, giving us a learning anotherlanguage is English, which could serve to guide or speak a foreignculture guajira in another country or city itself.

The working method used was very simple because each group member conducted their research smart on the subject and thenwe met and we draw the conclus

ObjectivesThe principal purposes of the newsprint project is divided into twogeneral and specific.

General:

• Publicize the folklore of the guajira.

• Show the different forms of dancing and celebrations that occur inthe guajira.

• Manage a broad concept of the department of Guajira in allareas.

Specific:

• Driving too well the meaning of speech in the English language.• Manage the sense of listening and interpretation assimilating andintegrating the English language as their own.

• Learn new vocabulary and exchange information with otherclassmates on the department of La Guajira.

La Guajira.

The Department of the Guajira. Located north of Colombia and belongs to the group of departments in the Caribbean Region of Colombia. Bounded on the north and west by the CaribbeanSea, east by the Gulf of Venezuela, in Colombia on the south with the Department of Cesar and the southwest by the Department of Magdalena. Its capital is the city of Riohacha.
In its cultural aspects is known for being the cradle of valiant music, a land of singers and composers. In tourism highlights it’s exotic and very attractive. Economically it is a department that has thepotential energy in electricity production, which has not been exploited, use of solar radiation, the trade winds, the thermal and hydro, and finally in natural gas.
Besides the above areas, the guajira also often stand out for its folklore. This is the expression of the culture of a people, is tell stories, music, dances, holydays, legends, oral history, proverbs, jokes, superstitions, customs, crafts and more.Holidays of The Guajira
In The Guajira the traditional carnivals are celebrated, likewise festivals in different municipalities, being the most out-standing: The Festival Acordeones's Cradle in Villanueva, Festival and National and International Reign of the Divi divi in Riohacha and Festival of the Culture Wayúu in Uribia; in all of them the musical kind highlights vallenato and the culture.* Festival of the Culture Wayúu-it is celebrated in Uribia's municipality, during the mayo 31 and on June 1 and 2. His principal aim is of to promote the expressions, socialization and interaction of the cultural creations of the people wayuu,
* Divi divi-East festival is feasted on the 28th, June 29, 30 and July 1, since for this day there is celebrated the creation of the department ofThe Guajira.
* Festival Acordeones's Cradle - is the Holiday of Saint Thomas. Meeting of the big accordionists of Guajira and cesar.

Dances of the guajira
Inside the dances most distinguished from the department of The Guajira it is had, Dance of the Chichamaya, The Dance of the Basin Riohachero, The Dance of the open tail and the closed tail.
* The Yonna is a rite comportamentalsymbolically that supports inside the culture guajira three essential attributes: search of the social balance, collective solidarity and relation between the cosmos and the man. The Yonna consists of about a circle so called piovi, where the man gives return for behind representing the wind and the woman goes towards ahead representing the force.
