Criticism of the Hamlet’s soliloquy ‘To be, or not to be: That is the question’
The reaction of the critics about Hamlet’s soliloquy is very similar as for touching the same subjects: thecontradiction and the doubts when taking decisions, the human being worries about what can happens in the future, the incomprehension about the life, and the role of the reason in our thoughts andacts.
Firstly, Hamlet’s ‘To be or not to be’ soliloquy is seen as a deliberation on the conflict between reason and passion. On the one hand , the character assumed a melancholic mask wheninteracting with others; on the other hand he constantly was subjected to the perturbations of his mind because of his guiltless. Additionally his doubts and contradictions prevented him from taking the rightdecisions for his life, that is to say, his lack of wisdom helped him to get confused and act improperly.
Secondly, the soliloquy discusses how mislead leads different consequences in life, to putit another way, human beings do not have enough knowledge or wisdom for making decisions. Hamlet felt that he was living in a world of deception and corruption,  feelings that arose from the murder ofhis father and the  sensuality of his mother. These revelations led him to a stage in which the moments of anguish and indecision made him to act inadequately.
Lastly, the soliloquy offers a visionabout being aware that in the world good and evil are inseparably mingled. For instance, Hamlet faced up his madness, his doubts about his adulterous mother, his complicity in the murder of hisfather and manifested the struggle between reason and madness, between good and evil, by inquiring into the feelings and passions. Hamlet recognized his original sin, however in a world where good andevil are inseparably mingled, he was tempted to shun the human lot but came at length to embrace it, choosing finally ‘to be’.
