Hate Crimes
Hate crimes are the worst type of crimes that can be committed. Some people think too much about society and have their ownopinion of the same and want the world to be the way they think is best. I have found a newspaper article from The New York Times about a hate crime that was committed against a gay child.
This hatecrime committed against the homosexual child was actual proof that some people just can’t stand how the world, and society is taking its course. This horrible crime happened in Green Junior High inOxnard, California. The victim, 15-year-old Lawrence King, had announced at his school that he was homosexual. He started to wear mascara, lipstick, and jewelry to school which made other boys bother himand harass him. Lawrence was shot twice in the back of the head by 14-year-old Brandon McInerney. This murder occurred while Lawrence was in his computer class with 24 other students who witnessed thisunfortunate event. Brandon entered the room, shot Lawrence and ran. Apparently Brandon was homophobic therefore couldn’t stand knowing that Lawrence was gay. Brandon was sentenced with 51 years ofprison.
Homosexuality is something that is not accepted by everyone but, in what kind of world would we live in if everyone who disliked homosexuals roamed the streets with a gun waiting to shoothomosexuals? This would be a very cruel world that wouldn’t grant those people to live long enough to see the mistakes they are making. Homophobic members of society are not helping society in anyway by murdering gays, they are forcing society homosexual members and people who accept homosexuality to strike back and prove that they too can act with violence to stand for what they believe isright.
