Alejandro Sanz has succeeded where many others have tried and failed. He has made his name a synonym of romance. Where many others have come off as corny, boring, or just plain weird, Sanz’stake on the subject of love proves entertaining, unique, and inspirational. A whole book could be put together with quotes from his songs, most of them about the one subject we all love to hearabout: love itself. The reason I chose Alejandro Sanz is because, for some reason, everything he says sounds so wise and true. Proof of his talent is that his words, said by any other, would soundfar-fetched and ridiculous, but from him, they just make sense.
Alejandro Sanchez Pizarro was born in 1968, in Madrid, Spain. Sanz’s friends recall that from a very young age, he would imaginehimself on stage singing in front of a crowd, when he was on a bridge near his childhood hometown. He begins his music career in 1988 very poorly. From then on, it’s been straight up for him. Hegot married in 1999 with mexican model Jaydy Michel in Bali, but none of their home countries recognized the marriage. They had a daughter in 2001, and got separated in 2005. Rumos claim thatSanz has a bastard son who was born in 2002, at which point he was still married. To date, Sanz has refused to acknowledge the boy as his son.
Though his first album was released under thename Alejandro Mango, from his second album onwards, he became known as Alejandro Sanz. In 1991 he signs with the label Warner, which set the stage for his true takeoff into stardom. He got more andmore fame as he released albums, but it was his 1997 Más album which propelled him to the stratosphere. In this album was his first real hit single, Corazón Partío. Since then, Sanz has releasedsix more albums, for a total of twelve. He has fifteen Latin Grammy awards and two Grammys.
