Reaching the Goal

When I received the list of all the documents I needed to apply to be accepted in the graduate program I got really excited about the “statement of purpose” that had to be turned in, I thought to myself, God, there are so many things I want to accomplish in my life, it is going to be so easy to write that essay; but the truth is when I got in front of my laptopand opened a new document in Microsoft word I could not think of a single idea to open this essay with. So here I am. Trying to express everything in a couple of pages hoping I can choose the right words to share all my dreams and goals.
My name is Karla Guerrero, I come from a family of five from Panama, and since I was a little child I knew that business was my field. I got the greatopportunity of getting my Business Administration degree in Marketing at Lindenwood University and now I know it is time to go further with it and I am ready to get a Masters in Business administration.
It might sound like a cliché but education is something that no one can ever take from you and if given the opportunity one should not even think twice and go for it. When I first came to Lindenwood Ithought I would get my BA and be ready to get out and find my dream job but reality is I was not, expectations have increased and they will continue to increase, big companies are now looking for well prepared individuals and a BA is good but not good enough. I want to be prepared and I know that in life there will never be a moment in which I will say: I have learned everything I need to know.Education is a never ending process. And right now I want to state: I want to learn as much as I can.
The four years I went to Lindenwood were very special for me. This was the first time I was away from home and the first time I had ever left my country. Besides the safe and amazing campus life that Lindenwood offers, the professors I had made this experience unforgettable. I was very glad to knowthat I was in a classroom with someone that had been out in the real world and everything they were teaching me were things they had lived. Listening to their experience in the market and their thoughts about economy made classes more interesting; to me it was like having a guest speaker in the classroom every time. I can recall amazing professors like Anete Najjar, Mr. Elder, my advisor Bill Vahleand the particular way of Mr. Cernik of sharing his political views. I know there are so many others I didn’t have the opportunity to have classes with and that makes me wonder how good the MBA Professors must be as well. I cannot wait to be accepted in the MBA program and again to have that feeling that I am investing time in something good for me and my future.
One of my biggest fears right nowis to not be prepared. When I speak to my friends in Panama and they ask me if I am excited to go back I want to say “Yes I am” but then I stop and think, Panama can be a third world country, but that does not mean competition does not exist. Under estimate is the worst thing a person can do. I know like me, there are millions of other people that are making the effort to study and improvethemselves. When I go back I want to be ready to compete with them and get a good position, right now in order to get rid of that fear a MBA is next on my list. After that I will be able to say that I am happy and ready to go back.
To finish my statement of purpose I want to express my excitement about the possibility of going back to school. When I went from middle school to high school I knew I wasmore mature and I would give 50% more, then off to college giving 75% more now I am 22 ready to give 100% more and enjoy every single second of learning because this is what is going to help me pursue my dream of becoming an executive in one of the companies I have had my eyes on since I decided I specifically wanted marketing: Puma and now Procter and Gamble (they recently opened offices in...
