New rumors about iOS 6′s features areramping up ahead of the WWDC in June. The latest news: iOS 6 is codenamed “Sundance” at Cupertino, and will feature a Siri API, meaning that app developers will now be able to leverage its voicecontrol capabilities.

With the 2012 WWDC about a month away, new rumors and information regarding iOS 6 is really beginning to catch fire. Following on the heels of leaked information concerning theemergence of new Apple Maps, we have this new report from MG Sieglar over at TechCrunch, who has managed to break some pretty big news. First off, we have a new working title for iOS 6: ”iOS 6, which isexpected to be shown off in developer preview form at WWDC in June, is internally codenamed “Sundance.” The use of the name Sundance evokes the Android and Windows OS names, which often employ nounsinstead of numbers to designate new iterations.

The other new piece of information is even more potentially exciting for iOS 6 users:

“…there have been whispers backing up Gruber’s assertionthat Siri APIs are another possibility. There have also been whispers about Siri for iPad finally coming. Specifically, I’ve been led to believe it’s more of a UI issue than anything else. After all,Apple is using the technology for the Dictation functionality found on the new iPad. They’ve just been working on what Siri for iPad will look like, I’ve been led to believe.”

If this turns out to betrue, and that iOS 6 will equip Apple app developers with the ability to leverage Siri, the use of Apple’s already popular but sometimes underused voice command functionality could explodeexponentially.
