Jane Goodall’s biography
Jane Goodall was born on April 3, 1934 in London, England. When she was 2 years old her father gave her a toy chimpanzee named Jubilee. Since thatday Jane became fond of to animals and animal stories. When she was 10 years old, she already had an ambition, going to Africa.
Jane finished school, then attended secretarialschool, and after worked for a documentary filmmaker. When She was 23 years old she traveled to Kenya because of school friend who invited her there. So she worked as awaitress until she had earned the fare to travel there by boat.
In Kenya, met Dr. Louis Leakey who was impressed with her knowledge of Africa and its wildlife, and hired her toassist him and his wife on a fossil-hunting expedition to Olduvai Gorge.
Dr. Leakey and Jane began planning a study of a group of chimpanzees who were living in the LakeTanganyika in Kenya. At first, the British authorities would not approve the planning, because they thought it was dangerous to a woman. But then Jane’s mother, Vanne, agreed tojoin her.
One of the first significant observations that Jane made during her study was that chimpanzees make and use tools, like humans do, to help them get food and thatchimps eat meat, plants and fruits. Thanks to Jane we know that chimpanzees and humans are similar. Jane received many awards thanks to her discoveries.
Jane Goodall got marriedwith a photographer, and has one son. Then she divorced and got married with the director of National Parks.
Actually Jane travels over the world giving lectures, visitingzoos and chimp sanctuaries, and talking to young people involved in environmental education. She is a great conservationist and an amazing human being.
