Ok, so seriously I don’t have the slightest idea why I choose him because I think he is one of the most complex persons I ever read about. In fact, I am not surprise that you spentlike, two years? Trying to understand at his work. Kant’s philosophy works is verbose, theoretical, and difficult to understand.
Anyway this man ------> It’s like the biggest headache of many people,and I will talk about him >:D!
So let’s start from the beginning, we all remember the OH-SO-POWERFUL-AND-INTELLIGENT-Descartes. Descartes said a lot of things (very important things), but one of themwas that, in order to achieve knowledge, we shouldn’t trust in experiences because somehow they are like our senses (so humans) and they are not reliable; in brief, he was a rationalist, he said thatknowledge is not based on experiences, the knowledge is on the human consciousness.
Then, another philosopher called David Hume, said “Oh, that Descartes Guy is crazy! How come he said knowledge isnot based in experiences!”. Let’s remember that Hume was an empirist (which means that he believed that “the truth” is achieved by the way you percept it), so he support the idea that knowledge isachieve by experiences.
But then, it comes a “handsome guy” called Immanuel Kant and said that both of them were wrong, but at the same time they were right. He asked “Is the world exactly the same as weperceive it? Or Is it exactly as how is presented in our reason?”
The answer is simple.
He believed that the perception and the reason are really important in the moment we want to perceive theworld. He did agreed with the rationalist, but he think they exaggerate in what the reason can tell, and at the same time he thought that the empirist exaggerate too at the moment of leave everything tothe perception.
