History

Colombia, officially the Republic of Colombia, is an American country located in the northwestern part of South America, organized as a unitary republic constitutionallydescentralizada.10 Its capital is Bogota. Its area is 2,070,408 km2, of which 1,141,748 km2 correspond to the mainland and the remaining 928,660 km2 to its maritime extension, which maintains borderdisputes with Venezuela and Nicaragua.11 bordered to the east by Venezuela and Brazil, south to Peru and Ecuador and northwest by Panama; regarding maritime boundaries, borders Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua,Honduras, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea, and with Panama, Costa Rica and Ecuador in the ocean Pacífico.12
Colombia is the only South American country withcoastlines on the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, which has several islands and the archipelago of San Andres and Providencia. The country is the fourth largest in land area of South America, withabout 46 million inhabitants, one third in population in Latin America, after Brazil and Mexico.13
Colombia is recognized worldwide for the production of mild coffee, flowers, emeralds, coal and oil,its cultural diversity and for being the second of the richest countries in biodiversity in the world.14 15 The Colombian nominal GDP is the fourth largest Latin America after Brazil, Mexico andArgentina, and is ranked 33 to 17 18 Your level mundial.16 PBI PPA also ranked fourth in Latin America, behind the same countries, and holds the 28th position globally. 19 20 This transforms Colombia'sfourth largest economy in Latin America and the third in South America.

Language
