IN 1960’s
Doug Engelbartprototypes an online system which does hypertext browsing, editing and emailing.
NLS (oNLine System) facilitated the creation of digital libraries and storage and retrieval of electronic documents using hypertext.
NLS used a new device to facilitate computer interaction, the mouse.

IN 1980’s
Tim Bernes-Lee writes a program which allows links to be made between arbitrary nodes. Each node had atitle, a type, and a list of bidirectional typed links.
Tim writes a paper about the loss of information and derives a solution of them using an evolving system based on hypertext system.

IN 1990
Tim starts to work on a hypertext GUI browser and editor using the NeXTStep development environment. He makes up "WorldWideWeb" as a name for the program.

IN 1991
Line mode browser (www) wasreleased to limited audience.
Files were available on the net by FTP.

What is the W3C?
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international industry consortium dedicated to "leading the Web to its full potential". It's led by Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the Web.
Founded in 1994, the W3C hasmore than 330 member organizations - including Microsoft, America Online, Apple, Adobe, Macromedia, Sun Microsystems, and a variety of other hardware and software manufacturers, content providers, academic institutions, and telecommunications companies.
The Consortium is hosted by three universities - MIT in the US, INRIA in Europe, and Keio University in Japan.

THE WEB 1.0
Refers as the firststage of the World Wide Web linking pages with hyperlinks.
