Should genocide education including the Armenian Genocide be included in U.S. school curricula?
Should genocide education including the Armenian Genocide be includedin U.S. school curricula? Yes it should be included, because, I have been asking my family and friends about the Arminian genocide: If anyone knew anything about what happened, but, no one couldanswer my question. I asked my three nephews who are students; two of them are in high school and the third is a college student, and they did not even know the meaning of the word genocide. Then I ask myfriend who is a teacher in middle school, He knew the meaning of the word genocide, but, he did not know anything about the Arminian Genocide. After talking with them I felt more curious about whathad happened in the Armenian Genocide. I started to look for websites, so, I can learn more, but I did not find much about it. Those are the three reasons why genocide including the Arminian Genocideshould be included in education.
First, the students should know: what is genocide? How many stages have? Also they should know how much genocide have occurred throughout history, and there is a lawcreated in December 9, 1948 by the United Nations. So they can understand, that, the classifications that people have to other people is wrong. This way they could prevent racial classifications,beatings and violence.
Second, teacher should also be prepared and know all this, because, is an issue that concerns everyone. They are responsible for the teaching of the new leaders. And thus mightprevent genocide like the Armenian Genocide in 1915, in which died more than 1,500,000 people.
Finally, we need more information, more books, and more websites that, explain more about this topic,because, it is a subject that needs to be discussed more. This subject not only has to be spoken in school, we as parents also need to know, In order to help our children. We also have to put in...
