Legalization of Illegal Drugs
Recently a serious issue that lots of governments have faced is the drug trafficking, mainly in the US and Mexico, that are the ones that matters to me.
In Mexico thisissue becomes worse each day; this war between the government and the army is dangerous for the society. That is why I think that the best way to fight with this problem of drug trafficking is to notlegalize this substances; if this substances are illegal is because they are more dangerous and addictive for people. All drugs, even alcohol and tobacco are bad for our health but illegal drugs ofcourse are worse and the legalization of them would be a big mistake.
There are lots of myths and reasons around the idea of legalizing the illegal drugs that make us think that this is the better wayto finish with all this problem but this reasons would be ok for a while but at the end the situation will stay the same or getting worse. People think that by legalizing drugs the economic situationwill improve because this provides an opportunity to tax new products about these substances but not: “Legalization of drugs will cost society between $140-210 billion a year in lost productivity andjob-related accidents. And insurance companies would pass on accident expenses to consumers” said the Drug Enforcement Administration (1995). The Institute for Health Policy at Brandeis Universityfound that in 1990 dollars the societal cost of substance abuse is in excess of $238 billion, of which $67 billion is for illicit drugs, so this will not improve the economic because maybe governmentwill earn some money but at the end they would spend more money in all the drug production.
Other myth is that by legalizing illegal drugs the society will give another step and will be more open mind,is seen as a freedom issue. This is good and this kind of mentality must function with a society like in the US or Canada (that neither in those countries this system give the better results) that...
