He has two brothers: "Jean and Tatiana." As a child, Luis Fonsi and gave signs that the music was to guide his life. With 3 years imitated the stars of the popular group Menudo, and his young age he joined the Boys Choir of San Juan.

The music was important and vital part in his life and now in North America, Luis Alfonso gets a scholarship to Florida State University to study music and prepare thoroughly, so he studied theory, music theory, music appreciation, singing and composition . Also entered in the choir of the university, which gives you the opportunity to participate in various scenariostoured the U.S. and London. This institution has just successfully their education, specializing in the field of music.

Eclectic in his tastes, Luis Alfonso same listened to Stevie Wonder Marc Anthony, Michael Jackson and Luis Miguel. And while singing mostly in English, he found his first big break singing in Spanish music.
That opportunity came through the Universal label,which saw an artist Luis Alfonso naturally and without hesitation agreed to sing in Castilian.
"He would not say no because I wanted to sing in English. I always dreamed to do it in both languages. What I wanted was to live everything I'm experiencing." Said Fonsi2

Less than a month in the market, Luis received a Gold Record for 100,000 copies sold of this album. This album was released in Spain. Also in 2000, Fonsi took part in the Jubilee 2000 where he sang before Pope John Paul II Catholic. In the same year Ednita Nazario took a Latin Grammy for a song written by Fonsi also collaborated in a tribute to the victims of September 11th "The Last Farewell" in White House before President George W.Bush. This memorial, part of a charity project, brought together some of the biggest names in Latin music to contribute to the cause on behalf of victims of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.
In 2002 with the album Love surprised secret. With only one day in the market, Luis Fonsi was made with a gold record for more than 100,000 copies sold only in Puerto Rico and the U.S.. States. About thisalbum and its artistic maturity, Fonsi said: "I see this as growth. One will mature and evolve. It is too important to give something back to the public, and I think we succeeded." Later, "Secret Love" was released in English versioned title in the U.S. Fight the Feeling. States. where he had a great succesfull.3
