Before analysing effectiveness of Nike’s Football sponsorship, this is extremely important and significant tounderstand the company and its history which is dealing with sponsorship. Undoubtedly, the Nike Inc. is known as an American multination company operates in designing,developing, footwear and apparel, services and accessories. Nike Inc.’s headquarter is in Beaverton in the Portland metropolitan area in the United States.
The company is themost popular and efficient provider of authentic shoes and apparel in the world and being massive maker of sports’ goods with 24.1 million US dollars in 2012. Nike employedabout 44, 000 employees worldwide which is definitely a significant contribution in the inflation and job creation within the societies. The company (Nike) was founded by BillBowerman and Phil Knight as its first name Blue Ribbon Sports on January 25, 1964 which became Nike, Inc. Officially on May 30, 1978. The company’s name was derived from theGreek word Kikn which is the origin of the Greek goddess of victory.
Nike operates its marketing under its own brand in Nike Golf, Nike Pro, Nike, Air Jordan, NikeSkateboarding and subsidiaries including Cole Haan, Hurley International, Umbro and Converse. In order to manufacturing sportswear and equipment, company operates retail storesunder the Niketown name and company sponsors many high-profile athletes and sports teams around the world. Nike is also known as Blue Ribbon Sports (BRS) was originated byUniversity of Oregon and company got involved in supplying goods for Japanese shoe companies and in 1994, company supported many players in World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
