Dear Citius student This small workbook is divided into 4 modules aimed at helping you improve your business communication skills. The first 3 modules deal with SocialEnglish, Telephoning and Job interviews, the last one, which starts on page 40, contains Business Vocabulary and Grammar work which normally poses difficulty to Business Englishstudents. On the basis of this input, you will be asked to make dialogues and perform different tasks. These will help you internalise the language and vocabulary introduced in eachmodule. Most of these activities are meant to be carried out in pairs. I know it may be difficult for you to work with a partner considering your work schedule, so what I suggest youdo is go over them on your own predicting what you would say in those situations. After each of the worksheets in the first three modules of the Business Builder you will find theTeacher’s Notes which include the answers to the corresponding activities on the worksheets. The Teacher’s Notes also contain occasional sections labelled ‘Cultural hints’. I wouldlike you to pay special attention to them since they provide very useful background information on business styles in different cultures. (In business contexts, cultural knowledge isconsidered as or more important than language knowledge). As for the last module, it contains business vocabulary, functional phrases as well as grammar activities based onauthentic telephone calls, conversations, emails, etc meant to cover the different work environments in which you may eventually find yourself. This module also includes an Answer KeySection which starts on page 50. I have circled the answers to the exercises I would like you to work on. Once again, I do hope you profit from the course!
