When I began taking this Technical Math course in college, I was upset and thought what a complete waste of time and money. Now as the semester almost comes to an end, I have realized how much Iappreciate taking this course. There are a ton of ways that math will be useful in my everyday life. I am a wife and soon to be a mother, studying to be a Diesel Technician and let me tell you, math surecomes in handy. As a wife I need to know how to cook delicious meals in order to keep our love healthy and strong and also maintain our check books and bills. As a mom I must be able to pass on asmuch knowledge I have as possible so that my son can grow up to be successful and intelligent. Math can teach us a lot about our diesel trucks-everything from projected horsepower, to how gear ratiochanges can affect your cruising speed. (1)
I was asked by my husband to make some flour tortillas, I honestly didn’t know how, I thought about racing to the store before he got home fromwork and call those mine, but my conscience wouldn’t allow it, so I called my mom and asked her how to make them. I wrote down all the ingredients and measurements. Before I knew it, they were theshapes of a few states but they sure were good.
I’ve got to make sure that when I do the grocery shopping for my family, I save money and I buy healthy products. I like to compare prices,while at the same time compare nutritional values to get the best deal. For example, a loaf of brand name whole wheat bread was $2.05 but had ten less fat calories and 20 calories less than the storebrand which was $2.00, I bought the healthier one.
With all the spending we females tend to do, I don’t like to be broke. My husband works and brings me his paychecks in form of a debitcard.
