Potato shoot experiment
Kids love experimenting and this potato shoot science experiment is a fun learning activity that will have your kids wanting to know more about how things work. So grabsome spuds out of the cupboard and amaze your kids today.
Number of players:
1+
What you need:
* a shooting potato (one that has little white shoots growing out of it)
* a shoe box
*scissors
* rocks
Activity:
Cut a small coin-size hole in the short end of the shoe box.
Put a handful of potting mix in the corner of the box opposite the hole you have made.
Lay the potato inthe soil.
Put the rocks in the box with the potato to create ‘obstacles’.
Put the lid on the box and put it somewhere where there is plenty of light.
After 4 weeks, open the box and you'll seethat the potato shoot has made it’s way around and over the rocks to reach the hole where the sunlight is coming in.
Why?
Plants have cells that are sensitive to light and tell the plant which wayto grow.
Plants will always grow toward the light.
The shoe box had a tiny hole of light and the potato shoot twisted until it reached the light.

La necesidadfundamental de la bombilla eléctrica fue encontrar un medio más eficiente y seguro de las que ya había.
Antes de la invención de la bombilla eléctrica los únicos medios de iluminación eran el fuego,las velas, y las lamparas de aceite, pero todas tenían problemas (poca iluminación, poca seguridad, necesitan mucho repuesto, etc.)
La ampolleta se adapto fácilmente debido a sus ventajas: sueficiencia luminosa, duración, etc.
Material y funcionamiento
Es un globo de cristal en el que se ha hecho un vacío y dentro del cual se halla un filamento metálico que, al ser atravesado por unacorriente eléctrica, emite luz visible.
