Orientalism By Said
The foundation of Edward Said’s thesis from the mistake of the colonization, is lettingus know that there was a colonized population by European colonial powers that were not taken into consideration. Even tough the author realizes the problem, he continues exposing the theme from the“Colonizer” point of view, and makes me wonder, does he really want to know what happened to the colonized population??
I feel the arguments that Said presents are perfectly good when we are talkingabout politics, economy, society, religion, etc; but not when we are talking about “art” because, from what I know, the artist explores the mysteries of life with deep respect and finds in “the other”the common space to create and exchange. So, as I said, it is not "culture shock" or "domination" as the critics and scholars have always wanted to see. It is the common space of encounter andexchange in which the "human being" is reflected in the "other man", rescuing from the other culture the costumes, myths, feelings and emotions that they both have in common, because across this culturaldivide there is much more in common than what separates us.
After the sinister image manipulation, which wallow at the academy this "art critics" and on which discussed the theme of "Orientalism",transcend far beyond any worldly appreciation, the great questions of humanity, such as: In the "female nudity" (we saw) far far away from any topic discussed in the text, what touches so intrinsic tothe man (male) in their sensitivity and their senses, ... and breaks down into a thousand questions without (apparent) response?.... that is the most fertile common ground to create a common...
