INTRODUCTION

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) born in 1919 when a group of industrialists, financiers and traders were determined to bring economic prosperity to a world that was still reeling from the devastation of World War I. ICC is a steadfast rallying point for those who believe that strengthening commercial ties among nations is not only good for business but good for globalliving standards and good for peace.

The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) is an independent intergovernmental organization, its purpose is to study needs and methods for modernizing, harmonizing and co-ordinating private and in particular commercial law as between states of groups of states and to formulate uniforms law instruments, principles and rules toachieve those objects. Set up in 1926 as an auxiliary of the League of Nations, the Institute was, following the demise of the League re-established in 1940 on the basis of multilateral agreement.

The World Trade Organizations (WTO) is the only global organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations; the goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importersconduct their business. The majority of the WTO´s current work comes from the 1986 – 1994 negotiations called the Uruguay Round and earlier negotiations under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER

ICC
Any company who wants to be part of the International Chamber of Commerce must to present a formal request in its country and has to pay an annual fee, which isthe only requirement for membership.

UNIDROIT
Any government who wants to enter in the Institute may notify to Italian Government.
The accession will last for six years, and has to be renewed for further periods of six years, unless the government wants to quit, it has tonotify one year before the expiration of any such period.

WTO
Any state or customs territory having full autonomy in the conduct of its trade policies is eligible to accede.
The accession process starts with the submission of a formal written request by theapplicant government. This request is considered a Working Party to examine the accession request and, ultimately, to submit the findings of the Working Party to the General Council for approval.
The applicant government presents a memorandum with all aspects of trade and commerce it will use, specifying all the details.
After that, the Working Party determines the terms and conditions to eachgovernment to entry, including certain rules and disciplines to make any legislative or structural changes where necessary.
At the same time, the applicant government can involve with other states members of the Working Party on concessions and commitments on market for goods and services.
Then, in the accession package includes two documents: the first document it is about the proceedings andconditions to entry; the second document it is about the schedule of market in goods and services between the applicant government and the rest of the members.
Those previous documents are presented to the General Council who gives the final authorization and emits two more documents: the first document it is the formal decision of the General Council; and the second document it is the Protocol ofAccession of the new entrant government.
Once the General Council approved the entry of the applicant government, it is free to sign the document, subject to ratification in its national parliament. After the sign and the ratification the government is considered a full member of the WTO.
